PetroquímicaSuape contracts water supply

The Petrochemical Company of Pernambuco (PetroquímicaSuape) and Pernambuco Sanitation Company (Compesa) sign contracts for the supply of raw water and treated water for the petrochemical complex, consisting of units of PTA, PET resin and polyester yarns, which are being built in Suape .

Compesa will provide monthly 800 thousand cubic meters of raw water and another 5 thousand cubic meters of treated water for the enterprise. The volume of raw water could reach 1 million cubic meters per month. The contract value is approximately $ 5 million per year.

With this consumption, PetroquímicaSuape will be the second largest customer Compesa, behind Abreu e Lima Refinery, whose contracted demand last year was 1.5 million cubic meters per month.

PetroquímicaSuape begins to receive the treated water in April and raw water in September this year. The demand will be met gradually, according to the needs of industrial plants. According to the schedule, the initial amount of raw water will be 5 thousand m3/month and should reach the contracted volume in May 2011. The delivery of treated water will begin with 500 m3/month and will arrive in 5 thousand m3/month, also in May next year.

The raw water to be used in industrial processes will be treated by PetroquímicaSuape in a Water Treatment Plant, which is in an advanced stage of construction.
