Celpe to provide power for Suape Petrochemical Complex
The Petrochemical Company of Pernambuco (PetroquímicaSuape) and the Energy Company of Pernambuco (Celpe) concluded on the afternoon of Tuesday (October 20), contract formalizing the purchase of electricity distributed by the licensee to meet petrochemical plants being built Suape. The provision is intended to units of PTA, PET resin and polyester yarns. Once installed, the three electro-intensive industries will consume 88mW, which corresponds to 4.5% of the load current demand in the state (equivalent to the monthly consumption of the cities of Olinda and Paulista) and about 30% of generating capacity of Termopernambuco. In 2011, when operating at maximum capacity, the Company will become the largest industrial customer of Celpe. The start of power supply for the venture, which operates in voltage 230kV, is scheduled for June 2010.
